Bad Bad Husband
This afternoon was a little rough for me. You see, I work overnight shifts, from 8:30 pm to 8 am, so my eating schedule is a little wacky. I try to keep a normal routine, but that isn't always the case...hence the enormous weight gain I've experienced this winter. Oh yeah..back to my story. I woke up at around 3:30 this afternoon to find my husband laying out happy meals for the kids, and of course a Big Mac meal for me. Thanks...I groan as i stumbled into the kitchen. I don't know if he just forgot, or wasn't thinking, but how could he do that to me when he knows I am desperately trying to lose weight? I cut the burger in half, passed my 11 year old one piece and ate the other as I dispersed the fries amongst my 4 kids. McDonald's is a treat in our house. The kids don't get it very often (about once a month max) so I didn't want to ruin it for them, but how could he? Not only am I trying to get healthier, but I want to encourage my whole family to do the same.(Problem is they are all in great shape). Not two hours later, The Man returns from the gas station with a pocket full of chocolate bars and lays them on the table for me to pick one. I just about lost it. Is he deliberately trying to sabotage me? or is he just really that dense? Surely he couldn't want me to be his fat wife forever? I mean I weigh 20 lbs more than he does and he's 6 ft tall.(I'm 5 ft 2" by the way). GRRRRRRR. Needless to say I have to give myself props cause I skipped the candy bar, and picked up a bottle of diet Pepsi on the way in to work. Men!!!!

Wow...sorry you're DH seems a bit clueless about your intent. I applaud you and your efforts. I think you're going about it the right way...for losing weight to be permanent it needs to be a life style change not a quick fix. So you're doing it right...and you have will power of steel if you can resist chocolate! You should be darn proud! :)
Hello
I followed the link from your Stickchicky blog. I'm also trying to loose weight. I just moved my weight blog over from an older blog, one entry at a time (there weren't too many) and it was really funny to read my previous plans/goals because I'd forgotten most of them.
Maybe your husband just needs time. Do you want your family to eat the same foods as you, or do you want them eat healthier? My son is thin so I don't expect him to eat the same way I do, er the way I should eat. LOL For example chips aren't allowed in our home (because I'd eat them) but I buy them for him when he goes to a friend's and wants some.
Good luck on your journey!
My guy used to be the same way. At first I would get mad. Then I relied on humor. "I know you want me to not lose weight - more of me to love and all - but I think I'll skip the ice cream for now" After enough of those comments, he has gotten better. Atleast now it's frozen no sugar added yogurt. ;)
